The processes of cup forming 

1)      Cup side-wall forming and sealing
There is a copper cup mold and copper heating block upside, the specification of cup mold is same as finished cups. The side-wall paper is feed one by one and curl into a roll on the copper cup mold, then the heating block lower on its overlap edge and heat-seal it together. Then the sealed cup walls are taken off from cup mold and transfer to the turntable 1. This turntable clockwise rotate to convey cup walls to the overlap place of turntable 1 & 2.

2)      Die-cutting and forming of cup bottom
At the same time, the paper roll at the back of machine is also continuously feed, punch circles and bent down their round edge by the cup bottom cutter system. The formed cup bottoms are clockwise conveyed by turntable 2 to the overlap position with Turntable 1.

3)      Transfer cup bottom into sealed side wall
At the overlap portion between Turntable 1 & 2, the cup bottoms are lifted from Turntable 2 to inner of cup walls by a shaft.

4)      Pre-heating of cup bottom
The cup walls with bottoms inside are continuously transferred by Turntable 1 to Turntable 3. At their overlap portion, the upside Turntable 3 lower and take cup walls & bottoms on its steel cup molds. After rising to its top position, the Turntable 3 clockwise orate to bring cup wall & paper to pre-heating mold. Then The turntable 3 lower again to make cup mold insert bottom pre-heating device and heat-seal cup bottoms to inner side of walls

5)      Main heating and bottom edge folding
The turntable repeat rise, rotate and lower to move cups to Main heat & edge-folding mold. The bottom edges of cup walls are folded up to cover cup bottom edges. At the same time, its heater sealed them together.

6)      Knurling of inner side of cup bottom
The turntable repeat rise, rotate and lower to transfer cups to Knurling mold. The inside of bottom edge of cup walls is knurl onto strips to make the sealed portion of cup bottom stronger.

7)      Top edge curling
The turntable repeat rise, rotate and lower to transfer cups to Curling mold. The top edges of cups are curved into a roll.

8)      Feed out and collect of finished paper cups
The turntable repeat rise, rotate and lower to transfer cups to Turntable 1. The finished cups are collected and lapped over. Worker could take them off when the quantities achieve requirement.

Production line of paper cup:

From paper sheets to finished paper cups, it needs three main steps: 

1. Printing, 

2. Die-cutting, 

3. Paper cup forming:

Solution 1:

Customers buy a full production line, including offset printing machine, Die-cutting machine and Paper cup making machine. In this full production line, customers need only buy paper sheet (PE coated) and paper roll (for cup bottom). All the other processes could be done on machines. Thus efficiency is very high, but the investment is very large. Furthermore, because the capacity of offset printing machine and die-cutting machine is much faster than paper cup making machine, you should buy 3-4 sets of paper cup making machine to work with them, so as to avoid machine unused situation.

Solution 2:

Customers buy only paper cup making machine and find a local supplier to printing and die-cutting side-wall. The advantage of this solution is as follows:

  • It could greatly reduce your primary investment on machines
  • The professional requirement for printing is high, entrust this procedure to special factory could guarantee printing quality.
  • You could buy machine quantity according to your requirement and there is no wasting and unused of machines.
  • The costs for printing and die-cutting is no more than 1/20 of whole cost of paper cups. There would no be too much influence to your profits if you let other factory to print and die-cut.

Raw Materials:

The raw materials of paper cup making is one side or double sides PE coated paper. Its specifications range from 150g/sq.m to 300g/sq.m. Take 9 ounce paper cup for example, the output of paper cups is app. 200,000~260,000pcs per ton paper.

The cost analysis of one paper cup:

1000 Kgs paper cost is USD1300.00 and printing & cutting cost (one color printing) is USD55.00 /1000Kgs.So one cup sheet cost is USD(1300+55.00)/249000=USD0.00544 (For example: 170gram/sq. meter)

One cup bottom cost is USD0.0006

Packing cost is USD0.0003/Cup

Others cost is (including salary ,electric cost and so on)  USD0.0003/cup

Total cost is :USD0.00664/Cup
